1776: Giving up "Security" for Independence and Liberty

In signing the Declaration of Independence, our forefathers said.
"We Mutually Pledge To Each Other Our Lives, Our Fortunes And Our Sacred Honor"

It was great while it lasted.

According to some sources:

Human Freedom Index he United States dropped nine points, and now qualifies as only the 17th freest country among 162 nations

America's current press freedom rating is 44th in the world.

Now it looks like we are headed back to dependence with world-wide "Guaranteed Universal Income", governed by bureaucrats in Europe...or China.

Ben Franklin's famous quote: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

But the populace was very split on this scary idea of cutting ties with the King.

Many women born in the 1800's were named Elizabeth, Lizzy, Beth, etc. as a nod to England & Ireland's Queen Elizabeth from the 1600's

But at least men can now FREELY wrestle women and pee in their bathroom.

While the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, the Revolutionary War and other obstacles delayed the adoption of the articles of law that would establish the national frame of government for the new nation. The US Constitution was finally written in 1787 and ratified a year later. In 1789, the first Congress added 10 amendments, known as the Bill of Rights. They were ratified in 1791

Thanks Rogerdodger for the history lesson, always appreciated. I missed going to high school in USA, having arrived here to work on my master's degree in Engineering at ripe old age of 20 years and 4 months! So only history I am familiar with is that of England and India. But they made me pass knowledge of US Constitution oral test during my citizenship processing.

Happy 4th of July to all posters and lurkers here cheer.gif

July 4th 2022 and all other HOLIDAYS will likely be cancelled due to our new cancel culture.

"Good Bye" on a "Holiday" literally means "God be with you on this Holy Day!"

And don't even try to say "Good Bye" in another language!

PS: Bill Hader was criticized for incorrectly using the word "midget" on SNL.

The correct new term is "Fun Sized".

Can't cancel these holidays as they need an excuse for paid time off. Oh wait they'll dream up a national socialist holiday that runs 365

Freedom of speech...Really?

DISNEY cuts 'boys and girls' from fireworks greeting...

Disney World formerly began with, “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dreamers of all ages.”

The new announcement begins, “Good evening, dreamers of all ages.”

Isn't the word "ages" also age discrimination? "Dreamers" sounds like a derogatory expression to me...err.."us".

Is that "girl" a "they" and can I... ...err... "us" wrestle with "her"..."it" ...err, "they"?

Human, person...what's next, Manitoba?
