omicron was no big deal in South Africa despite only 25-33% of the population being vaccinated.

Omicron was unheard of until late November in South Africa.

Spring is coming to South Africa.

Virus illnesses seem to decline in the spring and summer.

Doctor treating Omicron in South Africa: 'We are over the curve'

Winter is now hitting the Northern hemisphere as virus cases increase.

Coincidence?

Seasonality wouldn't impact how they had almost a 0 mortality rate with omicron though unless you are factoring in Vitamin D. Plus their winters aren't exactly like ours, average winter temperatures are above room temperature. They probably get more crowding or whatnot during the hot summer months.
