They can not switch out of fossil fuels for 50 years.
It will take at least that long to replace power generated by oil & has & coal. Electric cars are currently running on majority of power generated by fossil fuels.
Yep, While I am huge fan of electric cars, cuz they are just better (save for perhaps heavy duty or off road type stuff in their current form), they certainly are not going to be juiced up by windmills any time soon.
I do expect that by 2030, there will not be many combustion sedans being sold, and if the electric pickups prove their merit over next few years, not many of those in combustion form either.
My bro has an 8 year old Tesla, zero problems, never stranded with a dead battery. Just Tires and Brakes for the maintenance. And amazingly, he told me his battery is still at less than 10% degradation, although conceivably that could start to fall off fairly soon.
I do realize that currently, a replacement battery when finally needed, is a fairly expensive proposition.
But I also remember when a 35" flat screen TV was $13,000. Just saw an ad for an 82" 4K TV at best buy for $749...just sayin'....
