Define trapped. Meaning if you have a short position you are not allowed to cover? What does it mean?

those who entered short today those stocks that seemed to be on the verge of collapse when the indexes were heavily down, now with the indexes up so largely, will probably be -10% on their account. Given that most of them are buy and hold people, they 're already in that state of mind where they hope it's just a very short term bounce. The truth is they are trapped and they still aren' t realizing it. The bull will leave a bloody mark on them........

commonly not professional traders get long at tops and short at bottoms.....and given that today smells of a bottom, they' re now trapped
