On the positive side, world population is INCREASING which is proof of a successful human race.
Prosperity is growing at rapid rate in South and South-East Asia and China where more than 60% world population lives.
The crowding and traffic in bigger cities has to be seen to be believed. Those people can afford more and better food.
One of the reason food prices are high everywhere. There are more cars, more phones, better housing, more restaurants
& hotels, more corporations, more jobs, all over those countries. Life expectancy keeps growing. Violent crime is minimum.
Only country really not growing is Japan in East Asia. Demographics for population growth are not good.
But it is the most civilized country I have ever visited among the 50+ countries I have visited. There are no homeless people.
There is not garbage on the streets, people are polite and courteous. Violent crime is almost non-existent in Japan.
Another country which impressed me was Singapore. It is amazing to see Chinese, Indians and Arabs living in harmony.
Flying out of ultra modern Singapore airport and landing in San Francisco International, I felt like I just entered a 3rd world country.
I consider myself lucky to have arrived in United States in 1960. It was the golden decade. Even in a big city like Chicago where i
would ride public buses after midnight, usually well intoxicated after a date, and never got mugged. Now it is completely different.
On the whole I am sure better days are ahead for most people in the world.
