External beam RT is easily available locally. The treatment takes less than 5 minute 5 days a week and usually lasts 4 or 5 weeks. The only guys who chose seeds lived too far away to drive every day so chose seed for convenience. Two of the three had recurrence of PSA levels are are both currently at Lahey getting second opinions. The third guy is going okay so far, but has had a funny year with buring urine, low grade fevers and maiaise.

One excellent way to approach the problem is this:

start getting a PSA around 50 years old. Note the number. Look at the year over year change. If the PSA starts to double every year, that's a suspious sign. If it soars about 4 and appears to double and your doctor can prove to you that its not due to prostatis a biopsy should be done. If the biopsy shows cancer you will get a "GLEASON" score which stages the degree of tumor aggression. There is a formula that comprises PSA and Gleason score that can point you towards either external beam plus/minus hormone suppression. Or, as stated earlier, robot surgery if you are young and concerned about possible ED post treatment.

On the other hand, I have six friends who have gone the seed route 1-3 years ago, including one (the oldest) who first had 5 weeks of radiation treatment. PSAs in all cases are still zilch. However, the one that had both radiation and seeds also experienced side issues believed to be caused by the radiation that have still not clearing up but have diminished to some extent.

Ty, not my topic really. The suggestions all made sense and seemed a good starting place. What do I know though? If after doing all that, you are still looking for natural alternatives, a good place to start is Dr. Andrew Weil. He keeps up with studies going on in Europe on herbal cures for many different things. Not a clue if this is one of them. Might have nothing on it. Just a place I usually look when I see something from a different angle.

I'm going to toss in my unscientific 2 cents because it works for me. Toasted Pumpkin Seeds And it's just the season for it. Here's what to do -- carve pumpkins and save the seeds. Remove the pulp from the seeds and brine the seeds in salt water over night. (The water should be very salty -- like 3Tbs for one pumpkin seed batch.) Drain and dab seeds with paper towels. Lay seeds flat on a 1" lipped baking tray. Heat oven to 250 degrees and slowly dry out the seeds. You will need to stir them up every 20 minutes until they're not obviously wet. When they're dry to the touch, crank up the temp to 400 until they start to tan, about 15 minutes depending on the seeds. Then they're done. I eat them like popcorn until the new year. btw: works for both men and women. ;)

Don't forget about Alpine Heather:
Maineman's post from March 31st, 2007
The news link no longer works but here's a clip:

Grow your own Viagra!
Winter-flowering heather: genus Erica
Particularly potent are forms of Erica carnea, the Alpine heather, whose range extends into the Balkans.

"The effect was almost immediate. I had to stay in my potting shed for an hour or so before I could decently walk down the street."

"It's amazing. My husband has never shown any interest in gardening before, but now he's out there night and day fussing over his heathers. Frankly, I preferred it when he left the garden to me and wasn't so frisky."

I had prostatitis for a while a couple of years ago, it was no fun....so I sympathize with you...but I would get checked out thoroughly by the doc' before anything else. Provided a medical checkup find no obvious problem, then I would try the ideas on this thread, and here a few more -

I would try Kegel exercise - see here - http://www.netdoctor...ises_003841.htm

This is a good exercise for everyone - has multiple benefits, and the not unpleasant side effect of stronger orgasms.

Also garlic, and avocado seems some scientific studies are showing this to help.

You could also try 'visual stimulation' - male sex drive is very visual, and that might kick things into gear, geez, it seems to be the main use by men of the internet so that says something.

I believe your general health condition has to be the most important - keep body fat% down, get enough sleep, lower stress levels, increase fitness, good nutrition - all the usual suspects.

Question everything, especially what you believe you know. The foundation of science is questioning the data, not trusting the data. I only trust fully falsified, non vested interest 'data', which is extremely rare in our world of paid framing narratives 'psy ops'.
