It is not the strongest nor the fittest that will survive, but those most adaptable to change

Darwin.

the vulnerable weak and stupid sadly will struggle to survive this 100 year event.

USA has the steepest infection curve.

Easter weekend will sadly accelerate contagion.

Vix up after a 14% market rally of two days?  Despite the stimulus and QE, rally of any substance will occur from much lower prices.

Look at infection curve in 2nd most populous state, Texas vs cesspool otherwise known as NYC....

Likely to see some pretty huge differences....

Currently New York has 47.5% of all US cases, and 31.2% of all deaths despite having only approx 6% of the population.

OTOH, Texas has about 8.7% of the USA population, and currently has about 1.7% of the cases, and 1.5% of the deaths

You simply are not seeing thousand and thousands of daily cases pile up in Texas despite having 4 of the top 11 largest cities in the country.

Back out NYC, and USA in general is doing quite well.

I bow to all your wisdoms.

US has jumped to third in worlds national cases in 10 days previously outside the top 10. Within another few days, US will exceed Italy an China. Yet you are not the most populated nation.

incidence is more important than prevalence. Cities where closest population proximity will have the fastest growing.

Prevalence is dependant on testing availability.

A sick workforce cannot sustain a shrinking economy.

finally, we in the UK will probably move from partial to full lockdown by this weekend. The USA appears to be doing the reverse by Easter amid a rapidly spreading contagion. Not smart. Stupid actually.

Ninety-five percent of New York City’s almost 200 deaths from the new coronavirus had underlying health conditions, though almost half were under the age of 75, according to data published by the city’s health department on Tuesday.

I'll make you a bet right now that Texas will never get even close to approaching Italian like numbers as a percentage of population.

Why some are surprised USA has 3rd highest infections after China & Italy?

First, we tested more people in 8 days than S. Korea did in 8 weeks. More tests, more infection numbers revealed. It does NOT mean infections are going up parabolic.

Second, there were more foreign flights coming into US than any other country on earth.

Almost all our seed infections came from outside the country.

Third, we have explosive manufacturing capacity to produce equipment needed to treat or protect people.

Fourth we have more money to throw after this problem than any other country on earth.

So if any country will defeat covid-19, it will be USA.

How come NYC is so short on ventilators, all states are so short on Test Kits, Masks and Protection equipment?

How come NYC is so short on ventilators, all states are so short on Test Kits, Masks and Protection equipment?

Simple answer: Brand new virus, test procedures had to be invented, tested and test kits produced where none existed.

Currently we have tested more people in 8 days than S. Korea did in 8 weeks. So progress is phenomenal.

Ventilators are short because no ne foresaw emergence of a new virus which requires ventilators for every

critical patient, who are mostly older patients with existing health conditions. None of the other diseases needed

this many ventilators. If some astrologer would have told us a year ago than covid-19 will arrive in Feb 2020,

and would need ventilators as treatment, we would have prepared.

No one in NYC who wants a ventilator doesn't get one.   All the talk is about projected need and supply.
