It's rather clear that we could have saved a whole lot of lives if we'd made sure folks, especially older folks in LTC or other similarly compromised folks, weren't vitamin D deficient.

Take your D. I'm taking 4000IU of D3 daily as well as Magnesium and Zinc. I'm contemplating upping it. It'll dramatically drop your odds of actually contracting covid, and if you do, it'll dramatically drop your odds of hospitalization, and if for some reason you have to go in, it'll dramatically drop your odds of seeing the ICU, let alone dying.

This link has virtually every study on vitamin D linked. The actual studies, not articles about them.

It's hard for most folks to get too much. It takes huge doses to cause a problem. Of course, some folks are going to be deficient even with some pretty big doses, too. Obviously, if you can, get tested, and check with your Doc.

Up here they don't seem to care they just tell you to take Tylenol flu pills lol!  Now know 23 other people who have had it.  Only 2 had fevers and got kinda sick.  One explainable being a bit obese and on medication, other was a younger tennis player and I was told tennis players don't get sick lol!!!  I was fortunate though very mild symptons although I still debate if I have some weird smelling problems lol!!

Yes this has been evident for many months now, the correlation of vit d deficiency and hospitalization in cases of the china virus. I find it criminal that no public health department nor governor has urged supplementation to its citizenry. All they say is lock yourselves at home, put on face diapers, don't get close to anyone and wash your hands. They have not changed the song over the last year either due to incompetency or corruption at cdc nih fda etc not to mention fauchi's stated stance on anti-malarials contradicts HIS earlier NIH corona studies for sars/mers findings.

BTW I take 5000IU D3, 40mg Zn, 300mg Mg, 100ug K2 daily just now adding 0.5g quercetin, will be dropping the D to 2000IU in the late spring thru early fall, but if I was 65 or older would probably double D3 intake as conversion becomes an issue with age.

All the best

The magnesium, Vitamin D relationship is very important. Vitamin D, is a hitchhiker it needs to bond with Magnesium to be distributed through your system. So if your Vitamin D level is low it might be because your Magnesium level is low, and of course we already know Magnesium is an electrolyte.

There is one more thing to keep in mind. You know what Milk of Magnesia is right? So don't over do it with the Magnesium, or you'll have to stay within spitting distance of a bathroom.

The current consensus is that those deficient in Vitamin D are vulnerable for more severe illness with Covid-19 as well as a number of other infections. However, there are no peer-reviewed studies with evidence that supplementation serves this function  for those who are not deficient. Elderly people are more likely to be deficient. It's important for people to be tested for serum Vitamin D-3 and supplements added when needed. It's not a panacea nor will it prevent more hospitalizations and deaths than simple safety procedures such as wearing a mask while keeping safe distances from people and avoiding indoor spaces or crowds.

Actually, there's a lot of data that suggests that it WILL prevent more hospitalizations and deaths than masking, which has very little supporting it. I don't know that there's any good data on the efficacy of distancing, though it stands to reason it will be pretty effective.

Feel free to go through the studies. The link is voluminous.

Forgot another relevant supplement I also take vit C at 1g / day.

Interesting note on transmission >70% of cases traced to within household with suspected source to be aerisolized fecal matter from low water consuming (turbo flush) toilets. Some are recommending adding bleach to the bowl prior to flushing. More info you will be hard pressed to get from public health authorities.
