WSJ a month or more late!
Stock futures rose, putting Wall Street on track to build on gains after a softer-than-expected inflation reading raised hopes that the Federal Reserve may soon moderate the pace of its interest-rate increases.
The pace of price increases slowed in July as energy costs dropped, pulling annual inflation down slightly from a four-decade high. The consumer-price index rose 8.5% from the same month a year earlier.
The Nasdaq Composite Index roared back into bull territory Wednesday, rising 2.9%, ending a bear market that was the longest since 2008. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.6% and the S&P 500 gained 2.1%.
