This is a nice chart of the monthly margin data as provided by the NYSE.
Margin Debt Chart and Data in cvs form
I have the data in cvs form going back to the early 90's also, if anyone wants it.
The November data came out today and really spikes up.
I am guessing that by now it is at a record level. Record margin debt is not automatically bearish.
It is when it starts dropping.

James I would be interested in the margin data going back to 70ties.
I will email you with my personal email address.
Thanks
Btw, the march 00 value was $278, and november 06 is $270, so we're up there.
