Climate Science Exploited for Political Agenda, According to Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons

scientists adjust both data and even theory to accommodate politically correct positions.

Climatism or global warming alarmism is the most prominent recent example of science being coopted to serve a political agenda, writes Richard Lindzen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the in the fall 2013 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons

Escape from climate alarmism will be difficult... because Global Warming has become a religion. It has a global constituency and has coopted almost all institutional science. Nevertheless, he believes "the cracks in the scientific claims for catastrophic warming are…becoming much harder for the supporters to defend."

Nobel Winner boycotts journals Nature, Science, and Cell for damage to science

As usual, The Media IS the Problem. If Nature‘s failings were investigated by “science” journalists and
exposed in features, they would quickly change their attitude. But few science journalists even know what science is.

In extreme cases, the lure of the luxury journal can encourage the cutting of corners, and contribute to the escalating number of papers that are retracted as flawed
or fraudulent. Science alone has recently retracted high-profile papers reporting cloned human embryos, links between littering and violence, and the genetic profiles
of centenarians. Perhaps worse, it has not retracted claims that a microbe is able to use arsenic in its DNA instead of phosphorus, despite overwhelming scientific criticism.

There are four separate scandals going on at EPA right now

1) The EPA gave an ethics award to fake employee, “Richard Windsor,” who was just an e-mail alias for the agency’s former head, Lisa P. Jackson.

As the result of the persistence of the Competitive Enterprise Institute in pursuing their Freedom of Information Act requests, we found out that Jackson had been using an epa.gov email account under the name of “Richard Windsor,” and that looked an awful lot like a deliberate attempt by Jackson to fly beneath the transparency radar when communicating about costly and publicly controversial EPA ideas and initiatives. It now looks like the EPA awarded the non-existent Richard Windsor with several of the bureaucracy’s required workplace certifications

2) The EPA makes conservatives pay a fortune for FOIAs to be granted while waiving fees for liberal groups.

3) EPA contractors are basically Gym, Tan, & Laundrying in new, swanky rec rooms thanks to your tax money.

4) The EPA leaked confidential information on farmers and cattle facilities to environmental groups.

EPA’s highest-paid employee did no work for years -- told colleagues he was secret agent for the CIA instead

His expertise? Climate change.

In September, [John] Beale, who served as a “senior policy adviser” in the agency’s Office of Air and Radiation, pled guilty to defrauding the
U.S. government out of nearly $900,000 since 2000. Beale perpetrated his fraud largely by failing to show up at the EPA for months
at a time, including one 18-month stretch starting in June 2011 when he did “absolutely no work,” as Kern, Beale’s lawyer,
acknowledged in his court filing.

He spent much of his time at his Northern Virginia home riding bikes, doing housework and reading books, or at a vacation house on Cape Cod…

Celebrated Physicist Calls IPCC Summary ‘Deeply Unscientific’

Pierre Darriulat -- For nearly 50 years, his professional life has been devoted to particle physics, nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, and astrophysics. For seven years, he was Director of Research at CERN – one of the world’s largest, most famous, and respected laboratories.

The way the SPM deals with uncertainties (e.g. claiming something is 95% certain) is shocking and deeply unscientific. For a scientist, this simple fact is sufficient to throw discredit on the whole summary. The SPM gives the wrong idea that one can quantify precisely our confidence in the [climate] model predictions, which is far from being the case.

Darriulat says “the main point to appreciate” is that, because the Summary was written for policymakers rather than for other scientists, it “can not be a scientific document.” His next remarks deserve to be displayed on every billboard in Times Square:

When writing the SPM, the authors are facing a dilemma: either they speak as scientists and…recognize that there are too many unknowns to make reliable predictions…or they try to convey what they “consensually” think…at the price of giving up scientific rigour. They deliberately chose the latter…they have distorted the scientific message into an alarmist message…

Potential hidden values are why the public distrusts scientists as advocates:

◾personal career advancement
◾research funding
◾professional recognition (e.g. awards from professional societies) that supporting the scientific consensus can provide
◾media attention
◾influence within the scientific community
◾influence at the power tables in terms public policy
◾broader political objectives that support any/all of the above

There are five attributes of ideologues:

1. Absence of doubt
2. Intolerance of debate
3. Appeal to authority
4. A desire to convince others of the ideological “truth”
5. A willingness to punish those that don’t concur

Chevron win in Ecuador case is huge defeat for Big Green, trial lawyers

A lawsuit accused the oil company of causing extensive environmental damage with its drilling operations in the region, much of which had been done in conjunction with PetroEcuador, the state-owned petroleum exploration, drilling and refining
operation.

Judge Kaplan provided an amazing description in his 500-page ruling in Chevron’s favor:

The environmentalists submitted fraudulent evidence.
They coerced one judge to use an 'expert' paid to "totally play ball"
They then paid a Colorado consulting firm secretly to write all or most of the global expert’s report, falsely presented the report as the work of the court-appointed and supposedly impartial expert
They promised $500,000 to the Ecuadorian judge to rule in their favor and sign their judgment.

If ever there were a case warranting equitable relief with respect to a judgment procured by fraud, this is it.

It may take years to realize fully the damages this case will inflict on Big Green.

UK Times headline - Scientists in cover-up of ‘damaging’ climate view

Research which heaped doubt on the rate of global warming was deliberately suppressed by scientists because it was “less than helpful” to their cause, it was claimed last night.

In an echo of the infamous “Climategate” scandal at the University of East Anglia, one of the world’s top academic journals rejected the work of five experts after a reviewer privately denounced it as “harmful”.

Examples of EPA secret science:

* EPA continues to rely heavily on secret data in major rulemakings, including in upcoming ozone standards, which the Agency has admitted could be the most expensive regulation in history.

* EPA frequently relies on undisclosed, proprietary models. Its recently-proposed New Source Performance Standards for power plants, which will functionally prohibit new coal plants in this country, was based upon one of these models.

* The Agency’s chemical risk assessments are routinely based upon taxpayer-funded studies in which the underlying data is not made public, even when members of the public send FOIA requests for the information.

* Virtually all Clean Air Act regulations under this Administration have been justified based upon nontransparent health data. The Science Committee was forced to issue its first subpoena in more than 20 years to try to obtain the basic scientific information behind dozens of multimillion and billion dollar rules.

How Green Were the Nazis?

How could a regime that perpetrated genocide on an industrial scale and waged unprovoked wars of aggression be so concerned with the welfare of animals and plants and the harmony of the landscape?

It comes as something of a shock to most people to learn that Nazism grew out of the German Romantic Movement and that it embraced a wide variety of positions considered progressive and environmentally-conscious today.

Many people know that Hitler was a vegetarian, but how many know that the Nazis mounted the most effective anti-smoking propaganda campaign ever before the 1980s?

How many know that the nature protection and conservation laws enacted in the early days of the regime were, from an environmentalist perspective, the best in the world, and that -- stripped of racist and nationalistic language -- they largely remained on the books after World War II until redrawn quite recently?

Corrupt peer review makes the news -- scandal causes withdrawal of 43 published scientific papers

When you consider we have a journal community that allows corrupt and conflicted peer review, and also ignores the problem of financial conflicts, that’s just the beginning.

Here at junk science we believe that two areas that produce the most junk science by the whores who work for the environmental movement crusade, those two areas of corrupt practices and cargo cult science are:

1. Crap churned out by the well funded warmer crusade.

2. Junk epidemiology and toxicology from the chemophobe and precautionary principle government nanny whorehouse.

This journal peer review scandal doesn’t even touch the nature of the corruption. Epidemiologists and toxicologists sell their integrity to the highest bidder and governments use money to to expand influence and claim that they are indeed, "saving the populous and leading it to safety."
