I believe we are in a world where innovation in stuff was outlawed. It was basically outlawed in the last 40 years - part of it was environmentalism, part of it was risk aversion.

Education is a bubble in a classic sense. To call something a bubble, it must be overpriced, and there must be an intense belief in it.

People don't want to believe that technology is broken. Pharmaceuticals, robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology - all these areas where the progress has been a lot more limited than people think. And the question is why.

There have been a lot of critiques of the finance industry's having possibly foisted subprime mortgages on unknowing buyers, and a lot of those kinds of arguments are even more powerful when used against college administrators who are probably in some ways engaged in equally misleading advertising.

The core problem in our society is political correctness.

‘Single-digit millionaires’ like Hulk Hogan can’t afford justice

“You have as much computing power in your iPhone as was available at the time of the Apollo missions. But what is it being used for? It’s being used to throw angry birds at pigs; it’s being used to send pictures of your cat to people halfway around the world; it’s being used to check in as the virtual mayor of a virtual nowhere while you’re riding a subway from the nineteenth century.”

Peter Thiel up for top U.S. intelligence post, could go after Google and Amazon

He is super-concerned about Amazon and Google” but less so about Facebook.

Thiel is “concerned about the monopolistic tendencies of [all three] companies and how they deny economic well-being to people they disagree with,” the source said. Thiel supposedly thinks of these companies — perhaps not Facebook? — as “New Age global fascists” because of the way they can control information flow.

Peter Thiel bails on Silicon Valley

The investor’s politics have put him at odds with prominent players in Silicon Valley, including fellow Facebook board member Reed Hastings, chief executive of Netflix, who called Thiel’s support of Trump “catastrophically bad judgment.”

In a debate with Hastings at Stanford University last month, Thiel elaborated on his views.

“Silicon Valley is a one-party state,” he said. “That’s when you get in trouble politically in our society, when you’re all in one side.”

Or course, not Facebook...or Twitter for that matter.

Explain to me, stocks, where would Russian bots be without Facebook and Twitter to ply their propaganda?  Here on Traders-Talk?

I've been wondering...should I post replies to you in red in honor of your country of origin?  Just asking?

Communism ended in the Soviet Union in 1989, but McCarthyism is still with us.

Interesting that you've, after a relatively quiet period on your part, posted a whole raft of comments today immediately after Twitter took action against Russian meddling in American democracy (#TwitterLockOut).

Does this mean, Russian bots, blocked by Twitter, are now scattering helter-skelter to other websites?
