NIH begins clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to treat COVID-19

Study enrolling adults with mild to moderate COVID-19 in the United States.

The Phase 2b trial will enroll approximately 2,000 adults at participating ACTG sites(link is external) across the United States. Study participants must have confirmed infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and be experiencing fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. The investigators anticipate that many of those enrolled will be 60 years of age or older or have a comorbidity associated with developing serious complications from COVID-19, such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive short-term treatment with either hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin or matching placebos.

The first participant enrolled today in San Diego, California.

The above is exactly the type of patient Zelenko is treating. Early stage of disease, and only if he considers them at risk for getting Covid complications.

Have no idea why they are leaving out zinc though, after the tremendous benefit seen in the H+A+Z vs H+A only study just out.

Feel sorry for the placebo folks, many of whom will likely die "in the name of double blind science"....

I think Hydroxychloroquine+Doxycycline+Zinc is the best combination, even better than Hydroxychloroquine+Azythromycin+Zinc.  Here they're looking into both:

https://clinicaltria...how/NCT04370782

"Hydroxychloroquine and Zinc With Either Azithromycin or Doxycycline for Treatment of COVID-19 in Outpatient Setting"

Doxycycline seems safer than Azythromycin for older people who are more prone to heart issues:

https://nypost.com/2...id-19-patients/

“Doxycycline is an anti-inflammatory with properties similar to Azithromycin but without the safety concerns and without cardiac toxicity,”

Azythromycin isn't enough to affect the heart alone, but Covid-19 can produce heart problems which is leading to Hydroxychloroquine+Azythromycin getting unfairly blamed:

https://www.zerohedg...roxychloroquine

"(Wang, et al., 2020) finds that 44% of the patients transferred to ICU developed arrhythmia. None of them received HCQ or CQ. Most of the patients received an unrelated anti-viral and an antibiotic. Only in 18% of the patients the antibiotic was AZ. At least some of the patients developed an arrhythmia before the treatment."

That's why I think Hydroxychloroquine+Doxycycline+Zinc is the best combination.

I really think it's too bad that people can't get access to Hydroxychloroquine sooner.  Someone comes down with a 103 degree fever, can't get tested because test shortages make it so multiple symptoms are necessary, so can't get hydroxychloroquine, then days later starts to have breathing issues, then tries second attempt to get tested, and days later person receives positive test result, and so starts on hydroxychloroquine a week after the 103 degree fever.  This allows the media to say HCQ is not that effective when they know full well it's because of the test shortages.  The media proclaims the test shortages more than anyone, yet they lay the blame on HCQ.

Everyone should get a small bottle of HCQ with their $1200 stimulus check, so they don't lose valuable life-saving time trying to get it from the medical establishment.

I wrote an email to all the Docs in the study asking them to strongly consider adding Zinc to the protocol, even if they only do it for a portion of the non-placebo group.

Nothing may come of it, but had to let them know that American Citizens are actually paying attention to what is happening....

That St Francis one is the one that Zelenko is working with.

So NIH and NIAID (Fauci) better not do anything screwy, as the Roslyn one will be their check on reality...

There was some lady doctor yesterday on Fox News interview and she was saying how many patients with positive covid-19 test had their fevers and cough gone quickly after taking HCQ. If IIRC the doctor was from Texas. And she had to fight with the pharmacy to get HCQ. There are instructions from some gov't agency (NIH probably or could be CDC) to not fill prescriptions of HCQ.

Found the segment you were talking about.

Funny how the big corporate phamacists claim they are trying to save it for their patients who have been using it for years and years, while in the same breath trying to say it is somehow dangerous....

I like Dr. Zelenko's beard. He looks like Rasputin.
