Most face masks won’t stop COVID-19 indoors, study warns
August 21, 2021

WATERLOO, Ontario — N95 or KN95 face masks may be the best way to avoid COVID-19 during crowded indoor events. That’s the recommendation from a new study reporting most cloth masks just don’t do the job when it comes to stopping the spread of coronavirus within enclosed spaces.

Researchers from the University of Waterloo simulated a person breathing in a large room with a cloth face mask on. Despite wearing a mask, the study finds a large buildup of aerosol droplets suspended in the air. Besides raising awareness on the vulnerability of certain face masks, these findings also emphasize the need for proper ventilation indoors. More ventilation means less of a chance for potentially viral aerosols to linger around.

“There is a very serious difference in the effectiveness of different masks when it comes to controlling aerosols.”

Studies continue to show that aerosols exhaled by infected individuals can indeed infect others with COVID-19, even if someone is standing more than six feet away.

The findings appear in the journal Physics of Fluids.

Yeah, why wear a mask? If you're a good Republican, just take your dewormer. Its that simple! How anti-vaxxers weaponized Ivermectin, a horse de-wormer drug, as a COVID-19 treatment | Salon.com

Many of the same people who refused the virus shot last year are forcing other people to take one now, simply because of what is the current most popular Virtue Signal or who is in the Oval Office, not science.

I find it interesting how people can turn actual proven facts (science) into pseudo political science.

I have a friend who is a flat-earth, anti vaccine kook and another very liberal feminist Hillary campaign volunteer who refuses the vaccines. It should be their choice. If masks really work 100%, then I can CHOOSE to be around them if I wish.

But Virtue Signaling serves no purpose but to divide. I love them both for who they are.

I have worn a tight fitting N95 mask since all this began.

I still find it hilarious how my glasses fog up when I exhale.

Someone still gets to breathe my used, unfiltered air.

This is a letter I sent to our NUTTY Governor.

Honorable Governor Ducey:

On January 14, 2021 my mother
  - Who had No comorbidity issues and who took No medication
  - Fell and fractured her hip
  - Prior to leaving the house she was given a mask to wear.

My mother passed from COVID on January XX (date omitted for this post), 2021.

Who is responsible:
  - The paramedics who may have removed her mask during transport?
  - Someone in the hospital?
  - Someone in the rehab facility where she was sent?
  - The Office of the Governor of the State of Arizona?
  - The Arizona State Legislature?

While each of us has individual rights, those rights must be
balanced against the rights of others (the collective).  Our society
deals with this balance on a daily basis and our laws are so structured.

If today I decide I don't want to stop at a stoplight and injure
or kill one or more persons, I am held responsible.  The reason the
stoplight was there was to protect all of us (the collective) from any
individual who believes their individual rights not to stop at a stoplight,
are more important than anyone elses rights to safe passage through
the intersection.  Collective rights trump individual rights.

Another simple example is a "bad" neighbor. If my "bad" neighbor decides
to have a party every night and disturbs my right to get a good night
sleep, do my "bad" neighbors individual rights to party, take priority
over my right to sleep?  The law says their individual rights stop at
their property line.  Again, collective rights trump individual rights.

This debate of individual versus collective rights surrounding COVID is not
without precedent.  Typhoid Mary (a cook) felt her right to work was more
important than transmitting typhoid to the families who employed her.  As
each family group she worked for was infected and/or lost loved ones, she
would move onto another family. Given the knowledge base at that time, most
of those infections and deaths were preventable had Typhoid Mary followed
the scientific guidance at that time.  Ultimately she was jailed to halt
her spreading typhoid.  Fortunately collective rights trumped individual
rights again.

Governor Ducey, your generation benefited from the discovery of penicillin.
In fact, my mother had an opportunity to interface with Alexander Fleming
shortly after his discovery.  Think about the amount of disease and deaths
that would have occurred within your generation, had the Roosevelt
administration taken the same position about penicillin as the Trump
administration and its supporters did regarding COVID. Trust me, no one
in your generation, or any generation, would want to turn back the clock
before penicillin.

So I'm at a loss to understand your, and the Arizona legislatures rational
that masks should be left up to the individual. With COVID, it only takes one
individual who believes that their individual rights are more important than
yours, mine, or others to infect us all, or possibly cause our deaths.

Such is the case with my mother.  She did nothing wrong, but paid the ultimate
price because of a poor decision made by one someone, or a group of someone’s.

XXXX Cemetery, not far from your office, is where she is buried.
There, collective rights again trump individual rights.

I trust you and your family will remain free from COVID, and that your and the
Arizona State Legislatures' COVID policies - including no mask mandate - will
Not impact your family, or theirs, as it did ours.

The government requires hospitals to report to VAERS (virus adverse effect report system) of any patient sick from vaccine. So take the total number reported, double it to account for some missed reports of adverse effects, and you will come up with risk from vaccine at 0.008% which = 99.992% safe vaccines.

But why should actual data numbers matter to stock trade advisors guru.gif

I believe in the big picture, over anecdotes. But I am compelled to write this one anecdotal story.

My daughter in her late 20's is a big fan of mountain hikes. One of her hiking companion was in her mid-20's last year when she got a mild case of covid. She recovered. But now has serious heart damage. Palpitations and missing heart beats is her life now. She can not walk 400 steps now. Her biggest regret? She did not bother getting the vaccine before she got hit by covid. Now vaccine does not or can not stop getting infected, but vaccine can build some anti-bodies for the virus when it invades. Which improves chances of asymptomatic covid infection and avoid hospitalization.

Speaking of the Martha's Vineyard super spreader event...

A total of 74 people on Martha's Vineyard have tested positive for Covid-19 since former President Barack Obama's 60th birthday on Saturday.

Rev. Jesse Jackson hospitalized with covid...

Conservative talkshow host Phil Valentine dies after battle...

Seems like the worst virus right now is the mutual hate and blame.

Seems like the worst virus right now is the mutual hate and blame.

As I see it that is an effect NOT a cause.

The cause is we have a lot of adults acting like little children who are saying "you can't tell me what to do".

Like most children they can't seem to see the possible consequences of their actions.

IMHO those elected officials, who I'm sure have gotten advice from the medical community to take a different path,

and continue down the same path, have notice, and should be held criminally libel for their decision and the

deaths they have caused.   Sadly, our system will give them a pass.

Smelling like a goat is a big deterrent to covid virus. No need for masks.
