Is "California Dreaming" becoming a nightmare? Get ready to "walk on a summer's day"

This will be fun to watch from a distance!

“California can't provide enough electricity for the homes and businesses they already have, yet they're mandating everyone drive more electric cars!” “I'm continually amazed at how stupid they can be."

California set to become first state to ban gasoline-powered automobiles
The plan would ban the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 in California

CA Grid Officials Warn of Blackouts...
The peak load for electricity is expected to exceed 48,000 megawatts on Labor Day
The ISO prepares the public for potential energy shortages.

PG&E expands instant power shut-offs  to nearly 7,100 across 10 counties  that include Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Kern, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Santa Barbara, Shasta, Solano, Sonoma, Tehama, and Yolo.

17 more states that might now BAN gas cars!

Last week, after passing the electric car law...

Californians were asked not to charge their electric cars due to the heat wave impacting the state!!!

swoon.gif

Seventeen states with vehicle emission standards tied to rules established in California face weighty decisions on whether to follow that state's strictest-in-the nation new rules that require all new cars, pickups and SUVs to be electric or hydrogen powered by 2035.
Under the Clean Air Act, states must abide by the federal government's standard vehicle emissions standards unless they at least partially opt to follow California's stricter requirements.

States including Washington, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon and Vermont are expected to adopt California´s ban on new gasoline-fueled vehicles.
The other states that follow the emission standards but haven't committed to the ban are Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, District of Columbia and Rhode Island.

MORE BREAKING NEWS!

California is now banning all cars that run on Pixie Dust and Unicorn Feathers.

OK they need to add electric generating capacity, they have 12 years to get ready.  What do the electric companies say, would they like to grow their market, raise EPS and their stock price?  Sure.  So, what kind of source will they use to generate the electricity?  Nat gas, coal, hydro, nuclear, solar, wind?  Probably a mix.  Hydro is out, so is coal (too dirty).  Everyone has some hard choices coming up.  Keep picking the wrong sources, and climate change will keep the west in drought, and it will catch fire and burn down whole towns.

This is a problem for the nation.  Get ready to pay more for food, not the Fed's problem.

Feb. 23, 2022

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The federal government said Wednesday it won't deliver any water to California farmers because of a severe drought, a decision that will force many to plant fewer crops in a region that supplies a quarter of the nation's food.

“It's devastating to the agricultural economy and to those people that rely on it,” said Ernest Conant, regional director for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. “But unfortunately we can't make it rain.”

This is why hydro is out.

But the climate change-fueled drought and overuse of the Colorado River's water is pushing Lake Mead lower and threatening the dam's hydroelectricity production. Declining water flow has cut the dam's power generation capacity almost in half -- around 1,076 megawatts -- as of June.

12 years? What about today?

California is one step away from implementing rolling blackouts as its electric system is pushed to the brink.

“Rotating outages are a possibility today,”

said Elliot Mainzer, chief executive officer of the California Independent System Operator, known as Caiso, which runs the state’s grid.
The state’s grid operator declared a level-2 grid emergency Monday evening, the last warning before forced power outages begin!

The problem of today is the electric generating capacity is not sized for the record heat across Ca. and the west.  It was 116 degrees in Sacramento this week, never been that hot in recorded times.

The move to ban ICE cars is a move to address the underlying problem, which is the greenhouse gases that are causing climate change.

Prior to 1870 we had no cars or electric generating plants to speak of.  Then we started to burn coal for electric generation and gasoline to run car, trucks, and tractors, in ever growing numbers.  Do that for 150 years and explain why you think nothing should change after we dramatically changed the way people live, and changed the physics of the planet's atmosphere.

What comes first, the electric grid is inadequate when the temperature is 116 degrees in Calif., or the fact that it is hitting record highs in Calif. day after day?

the underlying problem, which is the greenhouse gases that are causing climate change

If anything has changed, blame the Urban Heat Effect! Ban CONCRETE!

Climate Change is REAL! It has been going on since creation!

California's droughts, fires and floods existed in the 1800's, and way before that.

LA TIMES:

The Great Drought : 1860s "CLIMATE CHANGE" Led to Breakdown of Cattle Industry

The climate was bone dry.... There was no moisture and our cattle died off in very great numbers ... California also suffered a "never-ending drought in the 1860's which wiped out 400,000 Rancho cattle and 300,000 sheep. Before the year 1864 had passed away, there was perfect devastation.

Paleoclimatologists have learned California suffered a long dry spell from 1,800 to 600 years ago.

Malevich, Woodhouse & Meko 2013 in Journal of Hydrology, showed that by using climate reconstructed from tree rings, the authors indicate severe 60 year droughts are possible in northern California and southern Oregon, which puts our current "worst in recorded history" droughts into context when considering the past 10,000 years of proxy records.

CO2-4-beads-vs-10-000.jpg

Let's take these issue one at a time, let's start with the beads.  You show a picture.  What do you think is proven by the picture?  What are the physical properties of nitrogen and oxygen that make them either greenhouse gases or not greenhouse gases?  What is the physical property of CO2 that makes is a greenhouse gas or not?

The picture shows the percentage composition of some of the gases in the atmosphere, but it says NOTHING about the physical properties of those gases relative to allowing sunlight to pass through, and not allowing heat to escape.

So, what do you think is proven by the picture?

Sorry you missed the history lesson. "Climate Myopia" is deadly.  (Climate Nearsightedness)

Climate was changing long before California had cars or humans were alive.

CO2 is the new world order's way of taxing the wealthy countries.

Please examine the damage being caused by windmill construction and their constant need of repairs.

Then research the environmental damage caused by mining for RARE elements (often using child labor.)

Then read about the Big Lie.

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

~Joseph Goebbels~

The Nazis used the idea of the original big lie to turn sentiment against Jews and justify the Holocaust.

Interesting screen name, since you are obviously dodging my question about your picture.  Why did you post it?  What point are you trying to make with the picture.  This is about physics, not opinion.  You put the picture up to make a point, so what is it?  Don't dodge and try to obfuscate.

My question, which you have avoided answering, it "what is the significance of the picture you posted of the percentage composition of our air, to climate change"?

I will answer it for you, it has no significance to the problem of climate change in my opinion.  It is a fact, but one that is irrelevant to climate change, unless you include information on the physical properties of the gases relative to climate change, and more specifically to heat retention, which you failed to do.

So why are you posting information about climate change, like the relative composition of air, without any information on the physical properties on the gases themselves, which is the important relevance to heat retention and climate change?
