SectorVue by David Schultz for April 11, 2005 Masterfull The Dow finished the week up 57 points while the Nasdaq 100 NDX finished up 16. Overall 22 sectors were up and 12 were down. Action for the week was plus 665. The Action oscillator is a bit overdone and needs a rest. The Oil Patch fell out of the top three ranking spots but are still in the top ten. Pharmaceuticals DRG made it to the top rank and is the only new leadership. The Consumer CMR also made a run up but includes many of the drug stocks. What is missing is the financials which are in the bottom ranks and Technology which is stuck in the middle. Simply put the old leadership, Oil is a bit tired and the market needs some fresh legs to carry it upward. Rydex funds- Took profit on the bullish NDX funds Friday and sitting in cash. INTERMEDIATE TERM TRENDS NDX Flat SPX Flat leaning down INTERMEDIATE OSCILLATOR Neutral Pharmaceutical DRG- Number one overall. We have been highlighting the move up for the last few weeks. It is good to see this sector come back to live after languishing for several years. Johnson and Johnson JNJ and Abbot ABT are the leaders. Utility UTY- Persistently in the top ten ranks led by Texas Utilities TXU, Duke DUK and Southern Co. SO. This sector is safe as long as interest rates remain stable. Biotech BTK- A big mover last week being oversold and trying to catch up to the drug sector. Celgene CELG and Affymetrix AFFX are the leaders. Financials -- Banks BKX, Brokers XBD and Investment Management SMQ- Stuck in the bottom ranking and holding the market back. Only Goldman GS and Lehman LEH are still going strong.
