I used to enjoy oatmeal and still have the occasional small bowl. However, was turned off this grain about 6 months ago when I opened a NEW box of Quaker oats, containing two, supposedly sealed bags ... and the bottom was crawling with hundreds of tiny, brown bugs (within sealed bag!). Not appetizing. Might have concluded that this was a one time occurance and freak accident (tear in bag? etc), but recalled reading an article by a microbiologist saying that stored oatmeal is one of the most easily contaminated grains. In any case, have switched to using more Quinoa. It's a tiny grain that starts about the size of a sesame seed, then quadruples as it's cooked. Has a mild taste, but I add it to other grains, with a sprinking of dry kashi cereal on top and a few berries ... delicious and nutritious. Quinoa packs more protein than any other grain and has the full array of amino acids (complete). Also loaded with vitamin E, calcium, iron, magnesium and pottassium (even a little zinc - MEN - that's especially important, for you). Plenty of horsepower, for such a tiny grain. Enjoy. Happy Sunday, C.C. :P
