Has anyone seen any news that explains why COP, CVX and XOM are up solidly while USO is down and the indexes are getting killed?

What have I missed??

DIVIDENDS! Those 3 pay juicy dividends.

Chasing yield is my suspicion too.  With the FED testimony Wednesday and Thursday, maybe there's fear of walking back the rate hikes, or maybe a hint of the new flavour or the month, NIRP.  A democratic FED chairman in an election year with a democratic president and facing a bear market might be tempted to take extraordinary measures to help her party and sink the shaft deeper into savers and old farts.  I understand that the stock market performance in the election year is one of the better predictors of whether the party in White House will be re-elected.  Buying dividend stocks may just be a way of betting that Juice It Janet lives up to her nick name.

I dont think the Fed chair will be partisan and I dont think the Dems will win - no matter who is running.

lots of dividend stocks are down - people like dividend stocks like utes when there is uncertainty and low yield.
