Not much really. What's more important is the way junk has been outperforming investment grade Ya should see plenty if dwngrades right around the corner. (JMHO)

It has little influence in an age where central banks provide financing.

Commercial paper also isn't a profitable means of financing holdings of sovereign debt.  Italian banks can buy and hold Italian government debt without margin.

Financial Commercial Paper commands a 5 basis point premium over Non-Financial CP. This was actually less than zero last week.

 

There's no concern about the safety of the financial system among those who should know better than thee and me.
