Most of the people I know who want to downgrade to that particular version are wanting to do so because the TWS booktrader has been redesigned now to require you to confirm your order. I hear it was because of patent infringement. Downgrading is at best a temporary solution. If that is in fact your problem why not simply get frontend software? You can get ZeroLine Trader for instance, about $10 per month. Or you can get ButtonTrader, although it is more expensive. I use ZeroLine. IT

that's exactly the reason IT. When you say temporary solution - in what way? You think they'll do a force upgrade to get folks past the 905 level?

Yep, that's their history. Eventually they force an upgrade. But in this case, they may well have an incentive to force the upgrade because of the infringement (if that info is correct). If so, the forced upgrade probably comes sooner rather than later. By the way, I tried out the new BookTrader with the confirmation box. I thought it was fairly quick and easy to use. I thought it would be acceptable for swing trading for instance. For scalping it would be a disadvantage, so kinda depends on what you're doing. I've used both ButtonTrader and Zeroline Trader. I recommend them both. But between the two, Zeroline is by far the least expensive at $10 per month (paid annually). Again, that's what I'm using now.

was using bracket-trader but it goes to a fee-based format starting tomorrow. Thing I don't like about it is all target, stops managed by the bracket-trader front-end, all reside on your PC. Drop you connection and any targeted orders won't get executed. Booktrader targets stored on IB's system. I'm no scalper but the confirm box on booktrader....isn't going to work. Im just a couple trades a day kinda guy and hoping that I can squeak by long enough for IB to get their compliance issues worked out and possibly work it into their monthly per-trade quota - but thanks, I'll look into your recommendations -

I don't know anything about bracket trader. But Zeroline and ButtonTrader both send the orders to IB. Nothing held on your computer. IT
