Do a google search for Social(istica)ly responsible mutual funds and you shud find a good proxy there

Not a "defense" index per se. Yes, an index with FLR would be ok. TARP? Sure, why not? Federally-owned corporations welcome.

Huh!
You guy weren't kidding about the TARP index. So, an index low-weighted in defense and TARP. The odds are really against me here, aren't they?
