As many of you know, Dennis Leontyev (aka DenLeo) has been a member of the Fearless Forecaster community since we were part of Carl's Decision Point on AOL. We've seen bits and pieces of his work and learned a bit about his strategies. What many of you may not know is that Dennis has been a hedge fund manager for years.

I have personally corresponded with Dennis regularly for well over a decade and a number of our colleagues and friends have had good business relations with him.

Denlo, I have watched your posts and for the most part think that your pretty intelligent. However, I think that most hedge funds are front running - in other words getting a "heads up" from political people like are elected officials for kick backs - on federal funds coming to certain areas of the country - ahead of the funds allocation being formerly being announced. I have personal experience with this happening in Ct. Its really bad and I have a major problem with it. Like - its illegal. Mary Anne

With all due respect, your post makes no sense whatsoever. There are 6,000 hedge funds doing different things. I am sure a couple of them are doing something illegal or unethical. Just like if you take 6,000 programmers or athletes or doctors or construction workers... you will find a couple of them doing something bad.

Mary, A "Hedge Fund" is merely a private placement limited partnership that manages money for a limited number of folks, typically on a performance fee basis. That's it. You could set one up for your family and friends for the efficiency of accounting and expenses and other fees. It's just a business structure, like a mutual fund. Mark
