Costco (COST) is looking more and more like a pretty good short candidate. I don't shop much (hate shopping), but I'd noticed how slow it was the last time I visited a local Costco store, which is located in a pretty affluent neighborhood. I'm curious whether anyone had noticed such slowdown... Thanks for any feedback in advance.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing at Sams club. As well as a few others. Even noticable at Kroger.. But I think the market is looking forward and not at the current enviroment. Not looking in the rear view mirror, and thats where the surprise will come from. IMHO... I think bears are at risk to 1200 spx and pull backs shold be bought.

A couple of months ago I asked a Costco manager about his store's volume. He said, "traffic is about the same, but the average ticket is smaller"..

Costco... It's what it is for Sunday Dinner... I visited one yesterday in Concord, CA. Jammed to the gills... Looks to me like shopping at Costco has replaced Brunch at expensive restaurants on Sunday afternoon. They had lots of sample snacking going on ...

Dates aren't required... you can meet plenty of gals there... Just hang out in the garden section, that's where the hotties show up to buy their veggie setups for the summer.

Thanks opinionated & HoseB for your input. And, I agree with you, opinionated, on buying the dips.
