Noticed a new business that just opened up a few blocks away ... electric cars of Austin. After seeing the movie "Who Killed The Electric Car" ... I really hope these guys succeed. Austinites are so brave and innovative ... GO GO electric ! :) .

Just a word about electric cars...they pollute where electricity is generated at the power station....instead of on the road. Most power stations in US use coal or oil or nat gas, all contributing to carbon emissions. The better solution is to increase nuclear power generation, solar & wind & hydro-electric based power generation.

Yes on the electric car. Long lasting, cheap, and lightweight batteries are the main hangup at this point. But this is the ultimate "flex" fuel vehicle, can be powered by hydro, wind, nuclear, etc.. Highest equivalent mpg vehicles if you consider electric energy used only, and ignore replacement battery costs.

Here is a site that has vehicles with more car like qualities rather than the golf car platform http://www.commutercars. com.

If recharged during cheaper rate, off peak hours, there is no additional carbon emissions, even from our hydrocarbon plants. Many used up batteries are presently recycled, though that would increase tremendously if we went to larger scale on electric car transportation.

Have had several evs myself over 20 years, the largest practical one being an electric motorcycle...
