I've noticed some of the frustration some posters are having with the perceived illogic nature of the current market environment and I certainly share that frustration. I'm also hearing it in mainstream media. My personal perception is that given the serious nature of the sub-prime, credit issues as well as unprecedented moves by the Fed and global Central Banks and various stimulus measures including the Governments "checks in the mail" solution, it seems the market is showing much more resilience than it might have shown in years past. My thought is this, has Information Technology altered risk perception? Speed of transactions, information as well as the exponential increase of PCs thoughout the world would seem to play a role. Certainly there are other reasons, but I would think IT would be front and center.

Cancer is still Cancer no matter how advanced our medicine is today. Got AIDS? What is all the technology in the world done to find a cure? Problem is People - GREED - FEAR, etc. Outside Intervention by computer or whatever just slows it down a little. The ultimate outcome is still DEATH. Look at AGING all the money the make-up and vitamin industry is making with their show of promise to live longer and better. The INSIDE STILL ROTS. PS, RIGHT NOW we are still dealing with the GREED Part.

People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

Remember this day, men, for it will be yours for all time.

I certainly understand the emotional side of the market and that those emotions are used as tools to manipulate the masses. That's the casino element of this market. <_<

That is my thinking also. I am in my mid 60's and I have seen enough bear markets.
There is NOTHING UNUSUAL about this market. In fact I was starting to wonder why
it took so long after the 2001-2002 bear market to get another repeat.

We had 21 bear markets in past 100 years and this one will make it 22. Just routine.
