Its not over til someone goes to jail.
And my guess is it will be some traders.. could be country wide, but the Fed has spent so much propaganda trying to save the markets that putting them in jail will be bad form.
No.. traders who were spreading rumors are going to jail. Someone has to go to jail for all this mess. They always do.
Why would anyone go to jail ? there is no one really guilty of any crime. Well, except for some shmuck mortgage clerks that were making fake documents to push the mortgage loans to suspect borrowers. But its all small fish. The whole psychology of this was of reckless irresponsible lending. Stupidity isn't a crime.

When did you start trading? Yesterday?
Every time there's big losses, someone goes to jail. Go search through your history, and you will find huge correlations with people losing money and a witch hunt that puts even powerful men in jail.
They can turn the savior of financial integrity of new york into a greasy prostitute addict. They can turn anyone into a criminal.
This is how the market always goes up. At some point, the government says anyone betting downside will go to jail, period. They ran out of rates to lower, but they got other tools.. more powerful tools.
I think they should imprison Martha Stuart again. that will be the lesson to all these mortgage lenders
btw, FBI is investigating put purchases on Bear sterns from last week. There were huge amounts of 30s puts bought when the stock was in the 60s. Several days before CEO on CNBC was saying that everyting is great.

by the time someone goes to jail, we will be well off the lows. rear view mirror
Witch hunt first, jail later..
Who the hell going to short financials now when the FBI will look into your books if you make money off it?
