My "Million Dollar Baby Sitter" experience has really opened my eyes to the crime in the education system, from the outrageous increases in college tuition down to the "Head Start" government programs. All the while the lack of real education wastes America's talented kids. My grandson has just finished HS. He seldom had homework his senior year. I could not understand how he could be learning anything. He said they would spend much of the day surfing the internet. Yet he earned a full scholarship. Now in college, he has yet to crack open a book , yet is scoring +90's. Education has become a slush fund for all the players, as has welfare, highway construction, etc. Hurricane Katrina exposed that for years "federal grant money" earmarked for levee improvement was siphoned away to the players. These excesses now put previously exposed Pentagon excesses ($700 hammers) to shame. I believe that is what happens when you remove local control and federalize everything.
