They always say "follow the money" and you will find the reason.

Former homeland security chief argues for whole-body imaging

Washington Post
Jan. 1, 2010

From the onset, deployment of the machines has been vigorously opposed by some groups. In June, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would prevent the TSA from using the new systems in most cases. If the House bill were to become law, the TSA would be limited to using the new technology only after a passenger had been selected for additional scrutiny. The vast majority of passengers would still pass only through metal detectors. So, under the standards set by the House bill, a terrorist not on a "no-fly" list or a watch list mandating closer scrutiny -- like Abdulmutallab -- could probably carry a concealed non-metal weapon onto a plane undetected.
Congress should reject this restrictive bill and instead fund a large-scale deployment of next-generation systems.

The writer was secretary of homeland security from 2005 to 2009 and is co-founder of the Chertoff Group, a security and risk-management firm whose clients include a manufacturer of body-imaging screening machines.

How our government works:
1) Get a position in the government.
2) Hype up some scare and advocate a solution to it
3) Sell/convince the government on your proposed solution, leave your government position, and partner up with the company that provides that same solution.
4) Sit back and enjoy your new money.

US Congressman:
DURING THIS LAST DECADE WE LOST 3,000, ON A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE DAY FOR AMERICA.
WE HAVE ALSO LOST 6,000 OF OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL.

WE HAVE LOST 400,000 PEOPLE ON OUR GOVERNMENT-RUN HIGHWAYS.
WE HAVE LOST 150,000 INDIVIDUALS FROM HOMICIDES.
I THINK THERE'S REASON TO BE CONCERNED, REASON TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM.
BUT WE'RE NOT DEALING WITH IT THE RIGHT WAY.

The public groping seems to be a planned humiliation to FORCE folks through these scanners, which DO NOT DETECT explosives inserted into body cavities!

But this doesn't?

Ron Paul Responds to TSA: Introduces 'American Traveler Dignity Act'

"Israelification" is a system that protects life and limb without annoying passengers to death

While North America's airports groan under the weight of another sea-change in security protocols, one word keeps popping out of the mouths of experts: Israelification.

That is, how can we make our airports more like Israel's, which deal with far greater terror threat with far less inconvenience.

"First, it's fast — there's almost no line. That's because they're not looking for liquids, they're not looking at your shoes. They're not looking for everything they look for in North America. They just look at you," said Sela. "Even today with the heightened security in North America, they will check your items to death. But they will never look at you, at how you behave. They will never look into your eyes ... and that's how you figure out the bad guys from the good guys."

Question: Are the TSA employees likewise screened each day?
They could easily bring in an explosive device and pass it on during a "pat down" sexual molestation.
And don't tell me it's not a sexual assault.
The TSA has gone way out of the way to say that same sex screeners will do the screening.
Why? If it's not sexually intrusive?

And since it's not sexual molestation shouldn't school children also have their genitals checked daily for hidden weapons?
Oh wait. Teachers have already been doing that. And going to prison.

"A man can hide 12 inches of explosives inside his body. A woman can hide 24 inches of explosives inside of hers. Neither of which are detectable by full body scanners or enhanced pat down procedures. That cell phone they allow you to carry on the plane makes a great remote control detonator."

My question:
Is there a line that a TSA agent could cross which would constitute sexual molestation?
And if that line were crossed could the victim have any reasonable expectation of having their complaint heard?
My police-officer son-in-law would be off the force in a New York minute if he were to try this stuff without reasonable suspicion, especially to a 3 year old girl.

Penn Jillette Stands up to TSA
"Federal V.I.P Penn - 11/13/02
(Oldie but goodie)
Last Thursday I was flying to LA on the Midnight flight. I went through security my usual sour stuff. I beeped, of course, and was shuttled to the "toss-em" line. A security guy came over. I assumed the position. I had a button up shirt on that was untucked. He reached around while he was behind me and grabbed around my front pocket. I guess he was going for my flashlight, but the area could have loosely been called "crotch." I said, "You have to ask me before you touch me or it's assault."

He said, "Once you cross that line, I can do whatever I want."
I said that wasn't true. I say that I have the option of saying no and not flying. He said, "Are you going to let me search you, or do I just throw you out?"

I said, "Finish up, and then call the police please."
