While everyone is focused on this gentleman, and it is a nice story, the real message here is one of the compassion shown by both the gentleman who made the video of this guy that went "viral", and then the first person to offer him a job. While others have come along due perhaps to the sensationalism and media coverage that this story brings, the real story is about the people demonstrating true compassion without a necessarily hidden agenda, or an expectation of something in return.

For all the problems individuals may have, whether its the unemployed, homeless, etc. or this country has in terms of debt and other social or financial issues, many of the solutions start with the compassion and action of a single human being. This is the one gift we all have that we can give to another - help, a second chance, money, shelter, food, a job, a referral, time, a friendly and caring ear, time - rather than focusing on the sudden fame or forthcoming fortunes this radio guy may have, the real story is the gift of compassion we all have within each of us.
Maybe try it this year, or if you already feel you exude that trait, do it a little more. We are all here for a reason, and a purpose, and each day is a gift.
