for evidence on the trajectory of the eventual downturn. We will have 2-3 hard down days -- sideways action for a bit -- and then another hard sell. The same fools will rush into buy after every pull back, refusing to believe we are declining. Cover shorts on severe daily volatility spikes. At least that is the play. HOW THIS WEEK PLAYED OUT FOR ME: I have been flat all week on swings. was wanting to reload RUT shorts on the afternoon of 1/12, as I saw that as the highest probability area to load up, but I did not. If one had done so, there would have been areas to take a few handles profit -- which was more than I made this week. However, I chose to just wait it out and day trade when I could -- inevitably leading to picking good spots, getting up $.10 or so on TZA, and getting called into a meeting or phone call which effectively led me into a stop out at near breakeven. Somehow I managed to make money on the zigzags that happened yesterday afternoon -- being short first then long into the close. As RUT ticked up in the afterhours, I felt naked without a short on, even though my 30-60 min charts said "no edge". I neglected several opportunities to take some chump change prior to 10:00 CST and by 11:00 was in the red and aware of the distinct possibility of a slow bleed up. Around 1:50, my 5 min went to sell and I bought another TZA stake to average down a bit with the intent on now having a daytrade on the full lot. 50 minutes later the 5 had flipped to buy, and I exited the position in full parted from most of my Thursday gains. Fortunately, I also took the buy and was able to catch the EOD ramp up in RUT. I feel exhausted for only a few cents this week, but my shorts will be resilient. Hope we don't get a gap down or anything like that, Tuesday, because I am all flat.
