These pundits and so called macro specialists are ALL ALIKE !
They spin the data how they see it.
Of course since the Dow is rising, or certain stocks are rising, we can't possibly be in a recession.
These guys can never call one until after 6 to 12 months of already being in one. Happens every single time. No matter HOW MUCH DATA they can get their hands on, there simply is no substitute for being on the ground and in the day to day trenches of it.
I can point anyone to 50 different clients, in many different industries, and they'll tell you HOW IT ACTUALLY is, not how some pundit sees it. My clients run the gamit from fortune 500, to small and medium size businesses.
