Unplug the computers while they rebalance the instruments and order flow?

No. The crash actually occurred, as there was $5.6 trillion in trades that got stopped. It's just that nobody got to see it (decline) in real time. What occurred was a dry run to see if they could prevent massive disorder and massive index declines, post an apocalyptic news event. The pentagon was involved. Next when cruise missiles are launched containing nuclear war heads, you'll get to witness 'the crash' in real time. Except those in the know will largely have gotten out of their positions, before you hear about it or see it.

Or meteor or any other cataclysmic event.

Makes sense just to unplug the machine for a few hours, days or weeks even.
