if u draw a trendline for gld off of the tops that occured on 10-5-12 and 11-23-12 u can see why gld stopped at this level and pulled back. now if it can penetrate the downward sloping trendline and break above it strongly that would tell me the downtrend is over. if it cant then its not. simple as that
