As many of you know I follow cycles to help guide my trading decisions, more as a filter as ultimately price rules (though it took me years and many $ losses to accept that price presides over time).... I follow cycles for stock indices, gold and bonds but nothing else. There is a well-known cycle "guru" who has more breadth in his cycle studies than myself (or anyone fro that matter!), it's Charles Nenner.... TODAY he is calling for a cycle BOTTOM in the $VIX. I have to admit after peering at an intra-day chart of $VIX I think 'ol Charlie is onto something! FWIW, He did say that we need a close >14.85 to confirm the cycle low is in..... TRADES: I just bought the May21 VIX (17 strike) calls @ .95 ....... I may be a bit early and I probably should buy some June calls as well.... (this position is less than 1% of my trading capital)
