So what
In an interview with Fox News, Dr. Henry Ji, CEO of Sorrento Therapeutics, said:

We want to emphasize there is a cure. There is a solution that works 100 percent. If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear.

The cure in question is an antibody called STI-1499 that Sorrento Therapeutics has been developing. If Dr. Ji's claims prove accurate, it would be, to put it mildly, a big deal.

A huge IF

But if it works as they have described, we could know within days or weeks if FDA gives the go ahead.

more detail

https://www.foxnews....dy-breakthrough

"As soon as it is infused, that patient is now immune to the disease," Dr. Brunswick said to Fox News. "For the length of time, the antibody is in that system. So, if we were approved [by the FDA] today, everyone who gets that antibody can go back to work and have no fear of catching COVID-19."

Not sure how exactly how long "the antibody is in that system". Is it different than a natural antibody timewise?

I guess if it did work, you could just get another shot if it wore off after a while until COVID is eradicated.

Here is the company press release

https://www.prnewswi...-301059779.html

They say they have done in vitro testing already.

These blocking antibodies were further tested for their ability to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in an in vitro SARS-CoV-2 virus infection model pursuant to a preclinical testing agreement for COVID-19 therapeutic candidates that was previously announced on March 31, 2020.

Looks like they did it at the UT Galveston Bio Lab

This is the technology they say they say they are using

https://sorrentother...ary-technology/

Looks to me to be more of a library of antibody data.

Apparently then it goes from there to cGmp facility where antibodies are actually built up

Found this primer on Natural vs Artificial Immunity

Lab produced antibodies would be in the Artificially Passive category, and likely would only give a few months of protection.

https://courses.lume...ing-immunities/

"Both natural and artificial immunity can be further subdivided, depending on the amount of time the protection lasts. Passive immunity is short lived, and usually lasts only a few months, whereas protection via active immunity lasts much longer, and is sometimes life-long."

oh yes, it has worked in vitro..........which doesn' t mean it will work in humans, but even if it will, they will need some months to test it on humans, they will need to produce it on a large scale and IF and it's a big if, it works, then it must be injected  on millions of people around the world. In other words the virus in the meanwhile will be changed, because it continually mutates its RNA and the pandemic will be over by itself. These news are only usefull to push up some shares....just that

caucasian people took some thousand years to develop their white variant of skin, their far in time ancestors from south africa had a rather different skin colour. But simple forms of life such as viruses take just weeks to mutate their RNA or DNA depending on what kind of virus we're talking about. And by next autumn, this one might be changed already. Pandemic is moving to Russia where temperatures are now equal to ours of a couple of months ago. The southern emisphere now is going towards autumn with that lower range of temperatures which the virus seems to like. In summary there's a risk that it will travel through earth for some time, changing while travelling and getting over in a couple of years like spanish flu did.

on the other hand, sorrento jumped at yesterday' s open and at some point it was gaining more than 200%. The stock indexes instead had a normal day like many others. That says it all about such kind of news. There are hundreds of promising cures around the world, but they all need time for testing
