Exactly, the propaganda has been very effective due to major advances in psychology combined with singular ownership of all mainstream media to the extent that it's almost impossible to break the spell, let alone move the Overton window in the direction of enlightenment regarding what the West is facing.

Media is a key ingredient.  Once upon a time MSM was divided into two sections - News and Opinions.  Now they have been merged into what I call editorialized news.  This is a corruption of the 4th Estates function as envisioned by the Framers.  Media's failure is partially responsible for the downward path followed by many institutions to the detriment of our society.  If the U.S. continues down the rabbit hole 50 years from now it will not be recognizable.

How To Repeat History (Part 2) The Great Reset is the new Great Leap Forward

Yuri sounds a lot like Solzhenitsyn (Gulag Archipelago).  The thing he does not address head on is the mutated version of communism which has been titled "cultural Marxism" espoused in the 20s/30s but blossomed in the 60s when Gramsci founded the Italian communist party.  Contrary to Soviet communism which engaged in violent revolution of one sort or another, cultural Marxism focused on "soft" revolution of culture and education.  Followers in the U.S. then began to push this into the U.S. and, for example, systemic racism became a touchstone in schools.

CMers believe that the reason racial disparities exist in a variety of outcomes (e.g., education, health, economic, etc.) is because of systemic racism that should be eliminated by trashing the existing system.  You can see this today almost wherever you look, including CRT which instructs (contrary to the Constitution) that people are not individuals with liberties but as individuals within categories which define how they are treated and their benefits; meritocracy be damned.  Today, K-12 and universities are the nurseries of CM.  It was chilling a year or so ago when a N. Korean refugee said that attending university in the U.S. was a "carbon copy" of the indoctrinating education in N. Korea (https://news.yahoo.com/north-korean-defector-says-going-130747688.html). This is not a good endpoint.

Yes, I agree, but he was working within a template to make a point, and the details of CM could perhaps fall into the category of: "history doesn't necessarily repeat, but it rhymes." CM is the "transition" (seems an appropriate word these days) or "buttering up" phase that is necessary as preparation to gain acceptance, or rather "make them beg for it."
