probably just a few here are following the US Open tennis matches. Yesterday, at late night hours here in western Europe, Medvedev played Alcaraz in the semi-final and he managed to beat him in 4 sets.

Everytime I see Medvedev on tv and hear him talking the impression I receive is that he is a very, very intelligent person and I'm truly pleased he won. When a person is so smart, he deserves all the best. A few years

ago when he wasn't the champion we see now, I warned a tennis friend of mine that this guy was on route of becoming one of the best on the ATP tour. He disagreed. Now the result is in front of his eyes.

I'm all for Joker, hope he wins and wished Alcarez would have won personally.  One guy I lost a lot or respect for was Shelton, what an idiot for what he said!!

I sure miss watching Federer and Nadal.  Glad the Joker is still around.  I am starting to be a fan of Medvedev.  I am Canadian so am fans of Auger-Alissime and Andrescu.  I dont particularly like watching Alcaraz.  He doesn't have much of a serve.  He excels at serve and volley and that throws off a lot of his opponents.

Here are highlights from their Wimbledon semi-final match.  Medvedev was no giant on that day - done in three easy sets.  The quickness and precision of Alcaraz was simply amazing - and his drop shots are unreal.

I know, but yesterday Medvedev did what he always does and what he didn't in Wimbledon (which is on grass and maybe not the surface where his play is the most effectivet) ......he always slows down the speed of the ball

thus undermining his opponent game, moving him a lot and finally marking the point with an explosive shot in the most remote corner of the court that his opponent can't cover. I like his play because maybe Alcaraz is

tecnically more gifted, but Medvedev is very, very intelligent. And he puts his smartness in his play.

They play in the same way more or less, but Djokovic is more gifted when he is close to the net. From the right part, he used to serve slice in order to send Medvedev five meters out of the court thus reaching the net and

easily taking the point. The big difference yesterday was the performance at the net. Big for Djokovic, poor for Medevedev. However, even so, in the second set Medvedev failed a set point with a back hand that was badly

directed exactly where Djokovic was waiting for the ball while there was a giant hole in the direction of the side line and that was the place where the ball should have gone. If Medvedev had won the second set, I don't know

how the whole thing would have ended. In any case I'm a big supporter of Medvedev

BTW....the slice effect produces little bounce of the ball which is what you want when you push your opponent out of the court
