I'm looking at year to date performance and last few month performance domestic. I see that year to date CCJ (Uranium) and OIH (Oil Servicing) have been hot. So energy related. SMH has also done fairly well. In February IYR blasted off but Feb and March it pretty much lost it's gains. What I'm most interested in is what's next and how long will it take for the next thing to arrive. Down at the bottom I'm now seeing bonds and real estate poking along. If the market rolls over I'm wondering if we will see money flow back into bonds or real estate? But for now, my buy and hold is doing well and not much reason for those making the money in energy or SMH to run away. I tried getting on board energy and semis, but my stops were too tight and I was shaken out only to watch them move higher after dumping me. By the way, GLD has had a steady uptrend for months now. Not really blowing out like some energy plays but doing ok. If it would have cooperated and hit the bottom of the channel this last dive, I was going to buy in, but it failed to make it to the bottom. Quite frankly when looking at the weekly and monthly, I think it's due for a serious roll over, maybe in a month or two it will set up a good buy. I'm tending to think that real estate or bonds will benifit when the market rolls, if the market rolls. They are beat up and tracking sideways...waiting.
In the end we retain from our studies only that which we practically apply.
