An index with a quadruple in 18 months and nearly a triple in less than a year. It's obviously parabolic now so there's no telling where it ends. When parabolas correct it's usually quite painful for the participants.

the word "parabolic" has been abused many times in the past......in 1994 for example .....when the dow was at 4000............only in hindsite does so called parabolics shrink to pimples on an elephants arse. a 1 dollar stock that goes to 5 dollars in a flash is not a parabolic if its a kikoff to 100

Cheif Shanghai will collapse. Its as true as tuesday follows monday. I think it is misleading to suggest it will keep going up. Maybe now is not the time to turn down, but I believe it will happen.

Chief,

While I usually agree with your simple outlook on the markets, your example of 94 is far from useful. It took the S&P 500 nearly 4 years and it didn't even triple. I know my geometry. I can look at log charts of Shanghai and the S&P from 94 through its 98 top and reckognize which one was parabolic. We both know that a healthy bull advance rises on a little skepticism.

Your views are usually objective and simple (and have been quite accurate) on this market--that comparison is not. I've stepped aside right now and am doing very short term trading in liquid names. I do have several now very small core positions in energy and basic materials but these are LT positions. I may miss some of the final run but looking around I smell a correction. I'm willing to change my outlook but for now I see a short correcion that brings some fear back into the hearts of bulls. The bull run can then continue into our election.

supposedly "people" are not bullish on the "market" check out the cheerleaders on cnbc. some here should apply for head cheerleader. I haven't heard anything but bullish comments. the nearest thing to bearish was this liquidity drivern move will end badly but it could last 3 more years
