About 4.5 year cycle more or less, targets the next low in June of 07 (more or less). Just for chits and giggles, but I'm really wondering whether we have actually seen the '4 year low' yet. More work to do on it. This is the spx. <

aire,

Your methods are getting popular. Until now, nobody would touch Hurst's methods with a 100 foot pole. You have brought a degree of credibility to cyclical analysis. Keep up the good work.

Hey Aire,

I have seen mention of this 4.5 cycle in other places, its a some-what rare event when the 4 year cycle fails and I believe 1987 is an example of that happening.

Given market action in front of a possible Jul/Aug 07 4.5 year low it does look like it should be up, up and away once it comes in. That is, of course, if it happens that way.

rkd, if you've seen mention of a 4.5 yr cycle in other places it's because they've been reading Traders Talk and copying what they see here. one "cycle" analyst who appears at safehaven admitted as much to me.

cycles don't "fail" they are at times not readily evident upon visual inspection of the price data. there is no 4 vs 4.5 yr cycle. they are one and the same. Hurst labeled the cycle as a 4.5 yr cycle that averaged 48 to 54 months. 1987 was not a 4.5 yr cycle low.
