The biotech group is one that has not really participated in all this. I like these 2 and am long both from slightly lower:

stops below recent lows.

Tom

just curious is why I ask, and because I encounter much avoidance by fellow trader friends who are TA oriented of stocks with consistent "rising price trends" in favor of some kind of other chart patterns.

Is it the challenge of other chart patterns that attracts this type of trade vs. a simple rising trend? Is it finding the gem in the hay stack?

One of the best TA guys I know measures the % distance from the 200 day sma for every "rising trender" I email on my nightly list for the last 3 to 4 years, and he avoids them like the plague in favor of t/l breakouts etc.

AAPL RIMM FSLR MA make good examples of "rising trenders"

Gary Smith has said he looks for tight rising channels like TSL has now to plough money...

I bought some SHLD recently but very underweight it compared to rising trenders..I sold all my FCX holdings today, and will likely only go long again once historic high is taken out...so there are some methods for controlling the trade risk

Until 104.75 failed to hold for DECK,..it was one of the easier rising trenders to make $ and remain long..see a daily chart since the move off the $16 to 18 bottom area

I'm accumulating DNA here too. The chart, unfortunately isn't that hot. But I though earnings were very good, just not good enough for the gamblers, I guess. But overall its starting to present some decent value. The new drug did very well with 200 mil in sales, and they have 8 more drugs in phase 3 trial. Overal, looks like a good stock for a long term portfolio. I wish I could buy some more cheaper.

Wow, we're going long stocks trading below their 50 and 200 dma's and coming up with "fundamental" reasons for doing so. Whew.

Anything wrong with buying good stocks for funbdamental reasons when no one wants them ? Talk to Warren Buffet about that.

I remember I was beeing trashed to death on this board when I said INTC is a good buy at 17-18, and MRK at 28. But now look at those charts, they look bullish and everyone wants them :) They looked pretty darn crappy back then.
