I have said this years ago. You can't have a situation where total debt levels are three or more orders of magnitued greater than the overall income of the country, and where all debt (short and long term) is compounding faster than the growth of income. Its mathematically impossible. A lot of debt (including possiblly some government debt at the local and state levels) must die and go to money heaven. And why is it that no one anywhere is talking about the effects of increases in property taxes across this country. Prices in many cases have fallen on real estate so much that people are upside down on their debt and towns are assessing the real estate at what ever price they want to even though they know that the property would never sell for the assessed value. No more equity to borrow against. No more spending. GDP declines but debt keeps compounding. Indianapolis, and Indiana in general, appear to be on the verge of civil war - the media just isn't covering it. The government has been under reporting inflation - and the lies are coming home. How on earth can they exclude food and energy - for gods sake thats mostly what I buy. Remember this - for it has been true throughout history - inflationary depressions ALWAYS result in the overthrow of governments. Mary Anne

Okay we know that the housing cannot be maintained for peoples income. But an all out crash in the stock market at this moment is unlikely. The housing and subprime has been problem for the last year. The market reacts on it just now. I don't think so. Are people spending a lot less money. No! Is the economy still plugging along good other than housing. Yes... Are US stocks a value for foreign investors at the moment due to the lower currency. Yes. Regardless, short term we are deeply oversold, and should expect at least three up days..... Barry
