Good point Yuri, I feel exactly the same. Back in the old days, people did not really relied on the gov't anyway, it was usually the kids who took care of their elderly. Every country is slowly rediscovering that the gov'ts have basically become a bunch of unsustainable scams...

Things are happening here in the good ole US of A. Just last week a childhood friend of mine retired. His income will drop by about 50%. He and his wife are selling their home and moving in with their son and his family. My friend and his wife will be babysitting their two grandchildren daily, ages 5 and 2, while the parents work. They will be living at the son's paying only a small amount of their pension to help with groceries, utilities, etc. so their income when retired will be more than adequate.
Many grandparents today are raising their grandchildren, unfortunately, they are doing it without any help or support from the grandchilren's parent(s). Perhaps my friend and his wife are in the forefront of a new trend that would appear to me to be great for social stability as well as a pleasant activity.
Peace

There is nothing more joyeous for the grandparents to take care of their grand kids while the parents are at work. I look forward for them to come over and stay in our house, it is so good for the kids, much better than the daycare or a nanny.
My son went to pre-preschool half day and spent the rest of the day with their friends at home or with their grandparents, they've been always very happy and the grandparents' presence have always been a great help for us, even though my wife is not working.
New parents hardly have the time to really learn how to raise their kids, the parents do help in that respect too...
