The obvious trend from looking is they take a position, at the top or bottom on WWW-then fade it into OEX. It's the Wedns. before options ex(today).

Today was supposed to that. Just see the main indicies options to see what they may planned. (i.e, but load of option open interest @ 1450, 1500, 1525). I an not an expert in this but food for thought.

Hi Tor,

I have posted these here a couple times...WWW / OE vs Comp for 2006 & 2007.

For each to reach his/her own conclusion.

That is an interesting chart, I wonder if we can list each pair verbally. Because visually it would appear that the following happens most of the time: 1) Next day after WWW is opposite, if WWW is up WWW+1 is down. vice versa. 2) Options week generally ends up opposite of WWW unless there is a very dominant trend that WWW is a part of. I have never paid much attention to it, dont know if there has been any extensive study done to suggest that WWW is worth paying attention to. What are your opinions of it, since you have taken enough time to do some research on it.

Hi rkd80, My research in regards to WWW has been limited. The phenomena seems to be existant and from what I can tell so far works best in a sideways market. I am primarily a swing trader so to me it is just another piece of a large puzzle. I think I may understand what you are saying about describing the effect verbally as it does not seem that via a chart, the full effect of WWW is understood unless one really gets into the meaning of the surrounding candles. Btw...Kudos to da Cheif for recognizing the phenomena known as "Weird Wollie Wednesday" and making it known. For those who are not aware, the "Wollie" stands for (Don) Wolanchuck aka da Cheif. Thanks Cheif. Fwiw...Mike

Brickie, thanks for that work. I studied those, made notes, etc., etc., but I can't discern any trading strategy from them. Anybody?

The WWW effect is something that typically happens in the middle of the week prior to expiration week (Wednesday give or take a day). It is possible that what we are seeing this morning is the boyz taking the market down now to cash in next week (aka WWW). I typically keep the WWW window in the back of my mind to better understand the intent of the market at times like these.
