NAV, said below that he doubted that there are 10,000 hedge funds and most likely most of them are not headed by qualified people. I strongly agree. I'll tell you with absolute confidence that there are many here on this board who are head and shoulders above the majority of equity and long/short hedge fund managers. Most of these newer hedge funds are being run by fairly smart guys with a bit of money who had hot hands for a few years and big egos. Most of our longer term posters have been humbled a few times and really understand risk control in addition to good TA and those are thing that most of those managers lack. So, can those managers get into trouble and make amteurish mistakes? Well, sure. They're more likely to that most of us, in fact. Frankly, it's a pity more managers don't spend a couple years reading here before they take other folks money. You can learn a thing of two from our crew. Mark

:( HUMBLED ?!? You must loose your "virginity " at least twice to be average, and three or four times to be fairly good. It's like being a pilot, "There are no old bold traders". :D mss

Why do they call them hedge funds??? A name change is in order. I bet Rodger can come up with an appropriate definition or name to fit this catagory.
