Carl Futia has been following covers and front pages on his blog, and writes that he is now "convinced" by the latest cover of Fortune that we are going to trade substantially higher.

Shown below are some images I grabbed from his blog.

Here is the "scientific" scoop on the indicator.

Shock "crap" sells magazines. Look at shock jocks Howard Stern and Don Imus. They wouldn't be making millions if everything they talked about was all peaches and cream. Looks at your newspapers. 90% of it is about negative events. I'd not put any weight in this type of analysis whatsoever. The magazines and what they print are meaningless.

Another point. These are business / financial magazines. These types
of indicators have more meaning when magazine covers like these
show up on the front general news magazines like Time and Newsweek.

a lot of folks these days want to be contrarian..the magazine cover contra-indicator itself is wildly popular..so it will be fun with lots of folks trying to fade themselves (or others)-gg
