I like stocks that make 52 week highs when the rest of the market is in panic. I think its significant. More siugnificant then when a stock makes 52 week highs, but pulls back with the market. Thats how BPHX has hit my screen for example. Of course it may sell off a little today, but that consolidation pattern on weekly looks pretty promissing. Besides, I just like the company :)

you look at the NUAN chart since 1992 when it started trading? the highest level since 1994 is now being tested, and it's prior 52-wk high. caution mean of 9 broker targets is not far above, with highest near $23 from memory....NUAN has proprietary software among other things.... GRMN is one I have liked a lot during this run....no reason to sell it until more weakness develops, but I would personally not be adding TODAY.

hiker, I'm not sure I'm quite following... is the reason for your caution because you see that rising trenders, as a group, are showing signs of topping? Or simply that they are too far extended? Pulling up the daily charts of a number of the symbols you mentioned, many appear to either be in the process of breaking out, or else pulling back in consolidation after breakouts. Though I do not have as much insight into the chart patterns, I do agree that right now is probably not the time to be adding to longs, as seasonal patterns suggest we may still be in for some sort of re-test of the August lows before the traditionally weak September/October period is over.

TS they chop around....everyone needs to pick their own style if trading this group. today looked iffy so far for adds in the group unlike OGM apparently, I move in and out of about 1/2 funds dedicated to trade this group...selling new intraday highs and buying back into new closing highs that repeat, or some version thereof. the other 1/2 dedicated to trading the group is more the buy and hold version while the maket is trending....is the market trending now? too early to tell btw, I just sold daytrade SPY long on this move above 147.80 and am now short...just an example that when a market is not trending like yest, may as well attempt to play intraday swings. I sold NUAN on new intraday high since 1994 today, and will buy it back on closing basis move above $20 (subject to change) or dips..the buy zone for NUAN was 18.16 and above

If I'm playing new highs stocks, I'm just pyramiding into momentum and keep raising stops based on previous lows on daily charts. Look at SAM for example, I added twice at new highs in the 38s and 40s, and its still chugging along. From my perspective new highs on a day like today is a good sign. My stop on GRMN is at 96 for example.

Other 3 52 week highs plays I have are BPHX, ONXX and SYNO.. I bought all of them at 52 week highs.. They've also been grinding pretty nicely since. ONXX didn't have a singe red day. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, though. But if there is a good consolidation pattern before it, they may keep going for a while. I just think GRMN has that pattern. Looking at SSYS now too. It hit new high yesterday.

OGM..makes sense..I just like to sell strength with at half of the funds dedicated to trading the rising trenders, instead of waiting to be stopped out on weakness. re: eating my fly rod...may need to be ready so I clearly sold early today all of my NUAN long near $19.80, with a plan to buy into repeated closing basis new highs...or on dips back down. let's see how this example of selling strength works out over time.
