For sure a trip to El Prado Museum... Side trip to Toledo perhaps... The best dinner I had there was at a old German Restaurant...the cerveza was muy bueno!

Your hours there are going to be late. Dinner doesn't get served til 9-10 PM in most places... The Flamenco shows are another diversion. Night life in Madrid is a very late affair. Things don't even get cooking til midnite. Typical life in Madrid is in bed by 3am, up around 9 for continental breakfast, business from 10-2, then lunch/siesta for a couple hours, work til 6 or 7 and then late dinner.

Definitely have to take the fam to Retiro. Phenominal park, although it gets a bit crowded, esp. on weekends. From time to time they have these precussion sessions where 30 guys will get together with just about anything they can bang on and people dance and it's just a blast. Maybe you can find the kids a sitter and take the wifey to El Sol for some salsa?
