Report: 3Com to be acquired
3Com Corp. on Friday plans to announce a sale of itself to Bain Capital and Huawei Technologies for more than $2 billion, according to a report published early Friday by the Wall Street Journal.
The publication cited the source as a "person familiar with the matter."
Marlborough, Mass.-based 3Com (COMS), a network equipment vendor, did not respond to WSJ requests for comment.
The $2 billion cash deal values 3Com at more than $5 a share, the report said. Huawei Technologies, the Chinese networking giant, will take a minority stake in 3Com as part of the deal, according to the report.
