Are smart phones recession proof?

I did not say that the US was in recession. I just asked if folks believe that smart phones are recession proof. Meaning will PALM, AAPL and RIMM continue to do well in a recessionary envirionment.
I have seen poor as$ people in 3rd world countries with cell phones. How can they afford it when they can barely feed themselves and their kids? It's sick, but they will have a phone.
Thanks but smart phones are a tad more expensive then the run of the mill cell phone. I appreciate your response.

i think they will be thats why they are " smart" they are smart enough to avoid a recession!

first thing mgrs will cut costs on is giving every new rep a Blackberry. RIMMs already eating it.
What do you mean by the statement "RIMMs already eating eat"?
